Summary
Our client is a growing specialty food manufacturer looking to hire an experience Maintenance Manager to be based out of thier plant in the Houston, Texas area. The Maintenance Manager manages all maintenance employees and it’s supervisors (approx. 20 employees) and also manages maintenance personnel issues. Applicants MUST have prior maintenance experience with a FOOD manufacturer.
Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance department and support staff including: hiring, training, evaluations and disciplinary actions.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
- Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing professional networks
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Manage preventative maintenance and repair schedules. Plan staffing schedule, assigns work appropriately, and ensures services are performed to meet Production needs.
- Manage contract services as necessary. Work with purchasing department on negotiation and any contract work as needed.
- Make recommendations to improve efficiencies and reduce down time and labor and over-time expenses.
- Ensures compliance with OSHA and safety regulations. Train staff in safety as necessary.
- Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
- Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.
Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- Must have at least 8 years of similar mainenance experience with at least 4 years in supervision/management
- Must have at least 4 years experience working in Food Manufacturing
- Must have good verbal skills to effectively communicate with staff members, Supervisors, Lead Supervisor & Management
- Proficient English communication and writing skills; Spanish/bilingual a plus
- Prefer candidates that have a solid electric background including experience working with PLC’s, preventative maintenance programs, high-speed packing machinery, and down-time analysis.
- Must be a self motivated, organized and be able to work in a very fast paced, dynamic environment
- Must be flexible with hours and be willing to work on the off shift occasionally
