Summary
Our client has been a trusted B2B leader in plant-based ingredient supply for almost 20 years. Due to growth, they are looking to hire an experienced Business Development Manager/ Account Manager to cover Food and Beverage Manufacturers within the MIDWEST. The have a comprehensive portfolio of sustainable, non-GMO ingredient solutions which undergoes rigorous analysis, both at the source and beyond, to ensure their proteins, prebiotics, fibers, sweeteners, blends are free from GMOs and allergens, and meet or exceed our specifications every time.
The Business Development/Account Manager’s job is to grow a geographic territory within the US and to provide our customers best in class products, outstanding customer service and on time delivery.
Responsibilities
- A strategic sales professional with a compelling personality, strong listening skills, and a relentless drive to expand existing customer relationships while actively hunting and closing new business through cold calls, warm leads, and strategic outreach.
- Goal-oriented and motivated to succeed, with a proven track record of customer acquisition, retention, and revenue growth in B2B sales—preferably within the food ingredients industry.
- Adaptable and solution-focused, skilled in understanding client needs and delivering clear, decisive, and value-driven communication that builds trust and long-term partnerships.
- Entrepreneurial, naturally curious, and eager to learn, always seeking new ways to identify market gaps and position innovative ingredient solutions for customers.
- A skilled networker, adept at building and nurturing strong relationships with both new prospects and existing customers to drive sales growth in the fast-evolving food ingredients industry.
- Collaborative and market-savvy, working cross-functionally to analyze industry trends, identify high-growth opportunities, and develop strategic business initiatives that enhance revenue margins and drive company success.
- Adept at leveraging strong communication and relationship-building skills, fostering internal and external partnerships that contribute to sustainable business success.
- Must have at least a BA/BS degree
- Must have experience as an Account Manager, Key Account Manager or similar role for 5 + yrs selling specialty CONFECTIONERY ingredients, CONFECTIONERY coatings or chocolate as a component (B2B)
- Must have experience calling on Nutritional Bar Manufacturers
- Ideal candidate will have experience selling similar ingredients to bakery and confectionary manufacturers
- Must have experience with: Customer Service, Meeting Sales Goals, Closing Skills, Territory Management, Prospecting Skills, Negotiation, Self-Confidence, Presentation Skills, Client Relationships, Motivation for Sales
- Must have a strong technical R&D knowledge or ingredient application background.
- Must have the ability to travel as needed.
- This position is home based
Requirements
- Must have 5+ years of direct sales within the Food Ingredients Segment. Experience in the F & B or CPG industry considered an asset.
- Must have superior lead generation capabilities.
- Must be skilled at both technical and business presentations.
- Must have strong negotiation skills.
- Must be able to travel 25-35% of your time
- Must have a valid drivers license and able to travel in the US and Canada
- Must be living in the Midwest region
