Madison, WI
Our client is one of the world’s leading DAIRY Co-Op based in WI. They produce a large amount of mozzarella and provolone sold to Italian restaurants and pizza makers across North America. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an SR Product Development Manager and an EXPERT in Mozzarella Cheese to oversee all the Product Development for the product category. The Senior Product Development Manager (Mozzarella and Provolone Cheeses) will develop and ensure the execution of the strategy and objectives for the soft Italian cheese product lines.

Responsibilities

• Manage all the R&D and Product development related activities for soft Italian cheeses (mozzarella/provolone), including strategic direction of the product category/business • Prioritize project load and ensure projects are viable • Manage budget • Liaison with other R&D, Customer, Sales, Operations, Quality, Culinary etc. • Interact with sales and marketing for customer support, product improvements, new product ideas and cost reductions. • Interact with manufacturing for process improvements, cost reductions and transition of new products and processes. • Troubleshooting production and customer issues. • Assist with design, development and transfer of new analytical test methods. • Develop capital requests and equipment needs for the Product Transition Group.

Requirements

The R&D Manager will be directly responsible for all the research and development of soft Italian cheeses. QUALIFICATIONS
• MUST have a BA degree (MS degree preferred) - in Food Science, Dairy Science, Biochemistry, Food Nutrition, Biology or Similar Science. MS or Ph’D is a plus • MUST have at least 5+ years of relevant R&D Mozzarella and/or Provolone CHEESE experience
• Must be able to lead multidisciplinary, international technical teams with the focus on developing new products and implementing product and/or process changes.
• Must be able to translate knowledge and problems into concrete actions to meet internal and external customer demands.
• MUST have a strong business acumen and be a key business partner for the division
• MUST be able to determine and steer the business implications of change-management
• MUST have the skills to manage a professional R&D organization
• MUST be able to diagnoses and problem solve while manage complex multidisciplinary projects
• MUST have excellent communication skills, (verbal and written) and have experience interacting with customers
• MUST be able to travel as needed.
