Food Sales Engineer-Food Manufacturing

Job Description:

Our client is a well known, global supplier of raw materials, technology, and equipment into the FOOD FREEZING and CHILLING INDUSTRY.

As a result of continued growth, they are seeking an experienced TECHNICAL SERVICES FOOD ENGINEER. The primary function will be to support the Regional Sales Manager to provide technical expertise in  Food Science and Food Chemistry to clients and help increase sales. This position will be home based in IL and will require up to 50% over night travel.

As a member of our client’s team, this individual will play a key role in the growth of their business in the Southeast region by focusing on food applications.
This individual will be initially focused on selling raw materials, technology and equipment offerings into the food freezing and chilling industry and will be responsible for meeting sales and profitability targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To include technical sales using the individual's process and troubleshooting knowledge, understanding of food freezing and cooling equipment and technologies, understanding of the drivers in the market, and proactive sales support.

  • The individual will need to assess customers'/prospects' problem, analyze the data and develop a solution based proposal.

  • Other duties include resolving customer problems, startup support for freezing and chilling systems, and providing input to our research group for new offering development.

  • This individual will be involved from the initial contact, all the way through startup and customer retention.

  • This position will require extensive travel, approximately 40-50%.

  • This role is key to success in the sales process and requires interfacing with the various internal functions including regional sales management, sales account managers, product management, equipment engineers, marketing, and technology, in addition to external interfaces with customers and equipment representatives.

  • The individual will need to take initiative, ownership, act with urgency and communicate effectively with all internal and external teammates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MUSThave a technical degree in Engineering or technical degree in a Food Science field or manufacturing related field required; B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical engineering preferred.

  • MUSThave 5 or more years of FOOD MANUFACTURING  experience.

  • Must have 5+ years experience in food science, food engineering or food processing.
     
  • Industrial engineering/plant operations experience is a plus.

  • MUST have experience working with food processing equipment.

  • Prefer applicants that have experience working with  preserving/freezing equipment.

  • MUSThave experience in writing and presenting technical information to customers in the food industry.

    Ideal applicant would have experience writing proposals, negotiating commercial agreements, trouble-shooting customer issues.

  • MUST be a team player and feelcomfortable working in a team environment.

  • MUSThave strong knowledge of food processing, equipment design and systems.

  • MUSTbe willing to travel up to 50%.
